Gdiapers (alias Weenees) recieves McDonoughs Cradle to Cradle award
PORTLAND, Oregon., February28, 2006
gDiapers/Weenees is the first consumer packaged product to recieve the prestigious Cradle to Cradle design certification from eco-innovators,
This is Bill McDonough's framework for product design which demands that after a product's useful life, it is re-integrated back into the environment.
G Diaper (alias Weenees) is the only Consumer Packaged Goods with this certification in the world.
It’s not just the Eco Pads which conformed to McDonough’s strict criteria. The Eenee Microfiber Nappies get the big tick also, because they’re so long lasting (i.e. they’ll last till your babies are all out of nappies then they can be used as cloths for streak free cleaning and THEN they can be recycled and made into microfiber nappies again). They don’t lose any of their integrity, even though they are a man made product. The other eco friendly advantage of using Microfibre Nappies is that they’re super-absorbent and fast drying, so they don’t require massive amounts of water and energy for laundering. The Weenees System used with microfiber pads or Disposable pads will save money, energy, work, time and our water recourses
William McDonough and Michael Braungart’s design firm, MBDC (McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC). gDiapers, a revolutionary new flushable diaper, consists of a cloth outer pant, (‘little g’) and a flushable refill. The product was designed to address the excessive amount of diapers and human waste in landfills. The certification supports what McDonough and Braungart call the “new industrial revolution,” a design paradigm that seeks to transform human industry through ecologically intelligent design.
